This one is close to my heart. When my brother Gavin told me he was ready to propose to Caiti, he asked if I would be the one behind the camera. I had stepped away from photography for a little while, but there was no way I was missing this. I flew to Fort Worth, Texas, and we set the plan in motion at the Kimbell Art Museum, surrounded by some of the most beautiful art I’ve ever seen.

Keeping it a secret was half the fun. I scouted a quieter corner of the museum ahead of time and did my best to keep it clear so Gavin could have a private moment to pop the question. Then I tucked myself behind the paintings and waited. When he got down on one knee, Caiti was so swept up in the moment that she didn’t even realize I was their photographer. Her reaction was pure joy, the kind you can’t plan, and getting to capture it from just a few feet away is something I’ll never forget.

Moments like this remind me why I picked up a camera in the first place. Getting to document a love story is always an honor, but getting to document my own brother’s is a gift I didn’t know I needed. Gavin and Caiti, thank you for letting me be part of your beginning. I love you both, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you.

The surprises didn’t stop at the museum. After the proposal, we headed to Gavin and Caiti’s favorite coffee shop, where a room full of their closest family and friends was waiting to celebrate. It was the perfect way to end the day: hugs, happy tears, and everyone they love most gathered in a place that already meant so much.
